apparently the cops set up inside 3 brighton clubs friday and swabbed peoples hands upon entry. tested the results on the spot and sent positives to the back room for a search, removing clothes as necessary.
from what i've
read
, nobody was arrested.

yeah this was going on - some bloke in Audio friday night was saying about it. It was happening at the Zap club but not sure where else..I can guess where though.
reading that thread, it says random drug searches are in the licensing terms of all brighton clubs (and this is to soon be nationwide), so more than likely expect this to continue through the summer with things getting more busy

testing on the door before entry, you wouldn't have even had the pleasure to get in

Im sorry but if i saw any club/bar/whore house etc testing for drugs on the door i wouldn't be going in there anyway, fuck that for a carry on. This just makes me think how silly and painful this whole clubbing malarkey is getting to be. Slippers and pipe for me.

They have been doing this in Maidstone for the last couple of years now on and off. Apparently, the machines can pick up even the smallest traces that maybe on your skin from something as simple as holding a bank note. They found traces of Heroin on some poor fella that had never even smoked a spliff!!
Does put a dampner on an evenings proceedings for sure

Girlfriends work colleague informed me of this last night
It was at a Breaks night at the Zap on Friday. Just swab your hand with something looking like a rizla, then get an almost instant result. She had done a dooberry before getting in the queue and tested positive.
Managed to blag it a little as she works in a pharmacy and blamed it on handling various pharmaceuticals during the day
As Mike Denney mentioned they are going to try and increase the number of clubs they operate at in the Summer months.
Just means you'll get even more people off their faces on the beach outside the clubs, rather than in them
Surely the clubs can just tell them to fuck off as surely their door numbers will start to suffer?

read that post on the nuskool breaks board... says it's part of the licence for all brighton clubs that they have to allow police in to do testing.... and the plan is to roll that out across the rest of the uk

this is really sad and will be the nail in the coffin for club culture if this sort of testing becomes widespread.
and what really angers me is that most "dance" clubbers (even at the chavvier end of the market) rarely cause any hassle.
however, just watch programmes like "booze britain" - fucking pissed up arseholes up and down the country fighting, causing havok in town centres every weekend, taking up HOURS of police time.
to me, this is a lot fucking worse than people necking a few pills or whatever..
they've got it all wrong.

Its true booze does generally cause more problems on a wider scale, but lets face it what with mental health and drug related crime that follows us well behaved fuck-heads around we are probably coming to the end of the road
Its the same old story of the few spoiling it for the majority

they swab every car and van driver that comes on to the Canary wharf development and have been doing so for the last 5 years. It recognises both drug and gunpowder residue. You can refuse the test, but you will not be allowed to drive in. It is a private devlopment, so they can do what they want in respect to testing people.

Jesus... haven't the police got more important things to be doing on a saturday night, like making sure no-one gets knifed on west street?
The Second Rates are rubbish.

taking drugs is illegal, if people don't then they won't have anything to worry about if they get swabbed

Keld, methinks you've got involved with Brighton @ the wrong time
and also: Brighton is well liberal, the fact that it may be a civil liberty is one thing, also the fact that the cops etc can introduce and get away with such a thing is also an indicator of how life is down there...
I hope it wasn't Audio

best thing I have heard all day. It's ILLEGAL, it you are gonna do it, then prepare to get caught. cunts.
You have to remember that the English are better than everybody else. And even if it's not actually true, we all still believe it, so we ain't changing for nobody.
